Afanadou Golf Club is situated on the Greek Island of Rhodes near the Rhodes Town. The Rhodes Island is one of the biggest and greenest of Dodecanese Greek Island situated in Aegean Sea which is at meeting points of three continents i.e. Asia, Europe and Africa. According to Greek mythology the Rhodes Island rose out of sea as a gift to Sun God Helios and it is no wonder that it has sun 300 days in a year. Rhodes islands are famous for Colossus of Rhodes one of the seven wonder of the world. The medieval old town is a World Heritage Site.
The 18 holes (par 73) Golf course designed by the world renowned British golf architect Donald Haradine opened in May 1973. The first three holes are along the sea and it is recommended by players as fun course to play. The length of the course is 6235 yards( 5690 meters). Rhodes Golf course is situated 18 km south of Rhodes Town on road to Lindos. The golf course is opened around the year, however due to sunny and mild climate the spring and fall seasons are considered the best to play when sun is less intense. This sea side golf course is a challenge to maintain due to water problem.
Afanadou Golf course on Rhodes Island, Greece is a very active golf course having a local championship of international standard. It also organizes international championships during March and October every year. The Club house is simple with all the facilities like changing room for men and women, showers, lockers, putting green, driving range, snack bar and pro shop. The golf course has Rhodes Town nearby which is prefect holiday spot with old town (which was restored by Italians in early 20th century), beaches, night spots, aquarium, shopping and dining options. Also near is the hilltop temple at Lindos. There are two main routes in Rhodes Island , the Lindos is on the eastern coast of Island through Lindos and to Katavia, which is in the south. The road on west coast goes through Ialysos and Kamiros and Katavia. There is a network of smaller roads also. You can hire a car or taxi , tourist coach or even public transport. The main beach can also by sea on launch which go in the morning and return in the afternoon. Kolymbia ( Kolympia) is also to near the Afandou golf course , this is beautiful, not so crowded sea resort , prefect for quite family vacation.
At the Afandou Golf Club the rental carts are available 28-35 Euros and trolley 4-5 Euros, the clubs can be rented for 16 to20 Euros. The price range of green fee for weekdays is 17 to 35 Euros and weekly green fees are 100 to 175 euros. The club is closed on Monday.
