Rhodes (also known as Rhodos) has an area of 1,350 square kilometres and is approx. 75 km in length and 35 km across at its broadest. It forms a part of Kalithea Municipality which includes Koskinou, Psintjos, and Kalithea beach. The Failraki was a small beach in sixties known for grapes, figs, tomatoes and fish. It was only in early seventies that Failraki started attract more and more tourist and hotels and other facilities came up due to long beautiful and sandy beaches. All the beaches are well maintained and have been awarded European Union Blue Flag environment award.
The Faliraki beach stretches nearly 4 km and has more than 4000 deck chairs and wide range of facilities for water sports are available. There are five other bays. Ladiko beach is most romantic spot of Rhodes Island. The part of the beach was renamed as the bay of Anthony Quinn as his films "Guns of Navarone" and "Escape to Athena" made this famous world over.
Kathara which has sandy shores and step rocks, it is also known for the nudist beach located next to Kathara bay. Other beaches include Kalithea beach, known for natural medicinal baths, the Ladiko beach and beach of Traganou.

It has British type pubs, bars, fine dining restaurants, discos, and night life best in Rhodes Island.
